The Difference Between Adult Orthodontics And Orthodontics For Children & Teens

  • Growth is complete — Unlike children, the jaw bones of adults are no longer growing. In certain cases this lack of growth makes it difficult to align the jaw bones without the use of surgery.
  • Gum disease and/or bone loss (periodontal disease) — Adults are more susceptible to gum disease or bone loss due to advanced periodontal disease. Patients with well aligned teeth are at less risk of developing gum disease. In addition, orthodontic treatment can help improve bone levels around certain teeth.

I wish I could give 1000 stars!! I had an appointment with my doctor that was rescheduled at the last minute (not by my choice) which caused a conflicting appointment time. Brett’s team literally bent over backwards to get me into my appointment to remove my braces early so I could make it to my doctors appointment. And to top it off, I mentioned during small talk that I was driving nine hours tonight so the woman working on my teeth literally stopped what she was doing, pulled up the schedule and asked if I’d like to come in at 2pm instead of 4pm!
